Hideo Takeda Paints History in a Sensual Hue

June 8, 2017 | Art

Combining sex, violence and beauty in one image is a tall order, unless you have the skill and imagination of Hideo Takeda!

Takeda’s erotic composition of the 12th century sea battle Dan-no-Ura, shows soldiers of the victorious Minamoto clan hauling themselves over a bound female form. Her size relative to the tattooed samurai suggests she is not a real person, but perhaps a metaphor for military victory as sexual subjugation.

Takeda unites his background in manga art with a mastery of Japanese traditional themes and techniques to create a uniquely compelling point of view. To see more examples visit hideotakeda.com.
